We started off the day in various cafes, when overhead planes (all in a row) were seen. Jenna's recent trip to Les Invalides + active imagination = concerns about air raids in Paris.
The Louvre refuses to be on the sidelines in the race for our Paris vacation theme, and presents some glassy dusk scenes..
It also darkens the mood with a medieval castle, excavated beneath the Sully pavilion.
This is what they think it looked like, before it was torn down and its stone most likely cannibalized for more modern Parisian monuments..
For Jenna and Krista (Lorraine and Kristina went off to sketch in the Richelieu pavillion), Danish and Flemmish painters then demonstrated their vastly superior skills in rendering glinting objects, skin and cloth textures, and possibly cows..
See the cow??
We appreciated all the character and detail painted into this image of two ladies bookkeeping.
You can see the veins on her hands!
We then learned the very valuable piece of information, that cafe frappe = iced coffee in France (also, entree = appetizer, appertif = main course)
Kristina also turned into a circle. And a passing bicyclist proclaimed his love for her. It was tres jollie!

p.p.s.
