Montmartre!

Today we finally braved the subway

and were treated to giant Harry Potter ads

and murals... and stairs

...soooooo many stairs

But our reward was gelatto... mountains of glorious gelatto

Which we ate at Artist's Square

And we somehow wound up at Sacre Coeur without having climbed any (more) stairs

Where a musical old couple made us smile

and there are crypts

in which statues hold their own, severed head (we all know how I appreciate decapitation in art...?)

artists try to sell their paintings to disinterested customers

classic Parisian PDA

We found the carousel from Amelie!

and we brought home oodles of loot

pride et plague of consumerism

Happy Pride week Toronto! The Parisians sure know how to rattle the lungs of the sick with all of the fabulously decorated sound systems on transport trucks they paraded for us today.

It wasn't hard to find the parade, you could feel the Michael Jackson (RIP :( btw ) and techno beats through the ground..

Things spotted included lions:

A fantasti(que) peacock man!

And the elusive but spunky French communist party..

We then visited the antique market to buy various pearl accessories..

And, among other things found in the sales racks, were these delicious items (that will do nothing for tenuous feet relations).

Merry proposals and maya-toots!

We forgot to mention seeing this painting yesterday (from history of surgical illustration class, yes?)..

And, the Ferris wheel is now whole!

D'Orsay et McDo's

Today we continued with our Museum Art Gallery theme, and went to the Musee D'Orsay.

We (metaphorically) walked the streets of Paris. After much literal walking of the streets of Parie..

Krista Enjoyed the Van Goghs..

Kristina enjoyed the Monets..

And Jenna enjoyed everything! Especially this painting (Though apparently she did not appreciate Le Cirque by Georges Seurat).

Then, we admit we may have stopped at a chic McDonald's for some 'Croque McDos'..

In which the Louvre refuses to go halfway, on anything

So today, Jenna and I trekked to the Louvre (and after yesterday's Eiffel tower walk, our feet are withdrawing their love). Kristina made many outrageous buys in the chic shopping areas, and was much more studious than us..

Upon locating the Louvre, we were beginning to get the idea that this was one of those no-nonsense galleries..

Inside, we find where all the lost noses end up..

We also delight in the various cupids and ladies riding boats.

And, the occasional times when our eyes stray upwards, we are reminded that this is the Louvre.

A non-mannequin Bonaparte and the well-guarded Mona Lisa were also sighted.

And Jenna tragically initiates a staring contest with a statue..

Who has no eyes.

We also enjoy the public service announcements in Paris.

P.s- duty free beverages to commenter number 4 on the mystery post; thanks Marco!
